Howard B. Moss, M.D.
Dr. Moss is a Board-certified Psychiatrist with Added Qualifications in Addiction Psychiatry, specializing in office-based substance abuse treatment. He is the former Associate Director for Clinical and Translational Research at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism in Bethesda, Maryland and is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the new University of California at Riverside School of Medicine.
He is an interactive, solution-focused psychiatrist. His therapeutic approach is utilize techniques proven effective by research to provide support for the recovery process and to avoid the potential for relapse. He integrates medication management with cognitive behavioral techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each patient. With over 30 years experience as a psychiatrist, and as a former Professor of Psychiatry at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Temple University School of Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine specializing in evidence-based treatment approaches for the addictive disorders, he is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of patients. In addition to being a prominent addictions therapist, Dr. Moss has published over 175 peer-reviewed articles and three books on alcohol and drug abuse topics, and has presented at numerous national and international conferences on addiction research. He is the former recipient of a Senior Scientist Award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
